Well, I feel like it's been forever since I last Blogged. We are still recovering from Christmas, meaning my house still looks like a tornado hit and I haven't had the desire to take all my Christmas decorations down. The house always looks a little bare in January. My kids are off track until after Martin Luther King day, so everything is like an extended vacation. I did put them in swimming, just to get us out of the house. It's hard to get the kids motivated to go outside and run around when it's like 20 degrees and the air is full of gunk. The swimming at least gets them some exercise, so they're not sitting in front of the TV all day, although, that's what happens when we get home anyway.
Regan and Hali are really addicted to that Rock Band game. They love the singing part. It's really kind of funny to hear my 10 and 7 year old kids singing a punk song or Metallica! But it's been such a great family bonding thing. We have ourselves a band going! We are called The Quirks. Don't ask. Anyway, Scott plays guitar, I play drums, Regan plays Bass, and Hali is the singer. It's fun. And it's our evening fun now that the Strike is happening and dance and piano don't start until next week.
We bought a new TV for the master bedroom. Our old one was dying. We've had it for about 11 years, so it was about time. We got an 42 inch LCD flat panel that we've hung on the wall. It's a lot brighter than our old tv. It lights up the whole room! But it's really nice. Scott made sure that it was hung on the wall, because he didn't want the kids touching it! We bought a couple of shelves to put the dvd and cable boxes on so Porter especially couldn't get sticky finger all over. Unless, he climbs up on a chair he won't be able to get it. But knowing Porter, he'll figure it out pretty quick!
Zoey is FINALLY walking!!! It's about time. She's 16 months now. Definitely my slowest baby. Scott has been called into nursery, so Zoey gets to go in early. Yeah! Now I just need to get Porter potty trained and into preschool and life will be perfect. No, he's not potty trained, yet. I'm getting to it!
It seems like there are a lot of weird, rare illnesses going around. My sister in law, Natalie's brother has some weird thing going on out of the blue. He's going to be fine, but he's spent a lot of time in and out of the ER. Also, a friend of my from my ward has been going through something similar. Back in October, she thought she had e coli. But when she didn't get better, she went to the doctor, who immediately admitted her to the hospital. Her husband was trying to explain to me what it was, but the gist is, she got a blood clot in the part of her brain where the blood goes out, causing her to have a mild stroke. Then there was something else that was happening at the same time, I can't remember what they called it, but it's so rare that they think she's the only person to have ever had this in Utah. The treatment for the blood clot is blood thinner, but that's the last thing you want with her other illness. They were walking a very tight rope for a while. She was in the hospital for like 2 months and is finally home. Anyway, I just saw her a couple of days ago, and she looks so good! I don't know what I was expecting, but she looked so normal! She's expected to make a full recovery. It's just so random. She's in her early 30's and has two little kids. I'm so glad to see her looking great!
Well, I have to make my girls clean their disaster of a room. Such is my life.
