I think that often. Am I the only one? Probably. I don't mean that I'm the best parent around. Heaven knows, I have my flaws! But it drives me crazy when I see kids doing things that I would NEVER let my kids do.
Right now, my kids are off track. We have year round school here, so we've been out of school since before Christmas. We go back on Monday, and I am SOOOOOO ready. So to keep the kids occupied, I have them enrolled in swimming lessons. So the place we go has a couple of benches downstairs and an entire deck with bleachers upstairs that over look the pool so that you can watch. So Porter likes to be upstairs where he can run around and I bring all sorts of toys and things to keep him busy and happy, because we are there for like an hour. Now I've become the babysitter. There are a couple of mom's who sit downstairs and let their kids wander to their hearts content. They can't see their kids from where they are sitting and they never once come up to see what they are up to. So I'm the lone adult with like 9 kids. They rummage through my toy bag and have no problem with my sitting right there! There is one three year old little girl who has this annoying habit of wanting to pick up Zoey, like every three seconds. She's maybe an inch taller and most of the time she's trying to do it on the bleachers. I have this vision of Zoey tumbling down and breaking her head open. There's lots of blood involved. I'm always telling this girl to leave her alone!
Then there is this girl about 8 or 9 who has taken over Hali's Nintendo DS. And usually when Hali's not around. So today, I decided not to bring it. This girl sat down next to me and started complaining about how BORED she was. And? I don't even know your name, little girl, why would I care about entertaining you? I'm not the activities director here!!!! Go complain to your MOTHER!
Then Porter starts running around with these little kids and I keep telling him, he can't go downstairs. The other kids are running up and down the stairs and out into the lobby. So finally Porter can't stand it anymore and he defies his mother and goes down the stairs. So I march after him and catch him going out the door into the lobby, just as the custodian is herding the kids back through the door and looks at me like, "Control your kids, honey." So I grab Porter and say "This one belongs to me." And I march him back upstairs leaving all the other kids there with not a mother in sight. AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
Watch your children, People, so I don't have to!!!
