Hali's team performed two dances, one to the song "You'll Be In My Heart" from Tarzan, and the other to "Cooties" from Hairspray. The competition goes on all day long. Hali's team didn't do their first dance until almost 11:00 am, but we were told to be their by 8:00 am. It was a really long day for the little ones.
This is Hali before the dancing began, when my seven year old turned into a very short sixteen year old.
This is part of Hali's dance team getting ready for their first dance(Tarzan). We are missing two girls here, although, all of them were in attendance.
The confusing part came when the trophies were handed out. Each of their dances, for some reason, were in different categories. I'm not even sure why, nor what they were. All I know is that both their dances placed second in their categories and that Cooties, placed second over all the dances in every category in their age group. Cindy, the dance studio owner, couldn't believe that this little team took second in their very first competition. Cooties placed second over probably fifty different dances! Yea!! We were so proud of them!
Here, again, is part of the team with Cindy and their trophies. Hali was walking on cloud nine the rest of the day! As you can see, all the parents were taking pictures at the same time so they are all looking different ways!

We had a little down time between the dances that Hali participated in and the awards ceremony, so we went to lunch and then decided to walk around the St. George temple. My brother, Ken and his wife, Jen, were married here many, many moons ago! I wasn't endowed at the time, so I've actually never been inside. But the grounds are beautiful and the flowers in bloom. Porter had to point out to Grandpa that Jesus lives here, but he didn't know why he wouldn't come outside to see us. I guess it can all be a little confusing at the age of 3.
We had a great time! Hali wasn't sure if she wanted to do dance again next year, but after winning a trophy, she's hooked. We may be doing this for a LONG time.We did take video. Scott will put it on soon!
