Girly-Man

My son has a very slim chance of not being somewhat girly. Today his sisters convinced him to wear lip gloss. The conversation went something like this:

Porter: Mom! I have on lipstick!

Mom: Porter, lipstick is only for girls.

Porter: No! The girls told me I could have it!

(Girls are giggling in the background)

Regan: I can't believe we got him to wear it!

Mom: Where's the camera?

Porter only posed for one picture before he wiped it off and ran away. I guess there's hope for him, yet.

Zoey and I were talking about my parents.
Zoey: Grandma likes to give me lots of kisses.
Mom: Yes, she does. So does Grandpa. And he kisses just like this. (I gave her raspberries on her cheeks, just like my dad does.)
Zoey: Yeah, Grandpa doesn't know how to kiss like normal.

The kids found a Christmas ornament that we bought before Zoey was born that had all our names, except hers.

Zoey: Where is me?
Mom: You weren't born, yet.
Zoey: But where is me?
Mom: You were still in Heaven.
Porter: Yeah, you were with Jesus.
Zoey: Oh! I LOVE Jesus!

Then her face just fell and she said, "but He died for us."
I guess even at four they listen!

Zoey watched the movie Beauty and the Beast for the first time today. During the moment that the beast turns into the prince, she slapped her hands over her mouth like she couldn't believe such a great thing could be happening. When the prince dramatically turns around to show his princely side, she got this really puzzled look on her face. Then said to me, "Him looks like a girl!"

A couple of minutes into sharing time, Zoey tells her teacher, "Her keeps talking and talking all the time!" Then she climbed onto her teachers lap and fell asleep.

Hali was pretending she couldn't talk. Porter walked over to her and slapped her face.
Mom: "Porter! Why in the world did you do that?!"
Porter: "Well...she was going crazy!"

Bought a new movie and inside the DVD case was an advertisement for Chuck E Cheese.
Porter: This movie was brought to us by Chuck E. Cheese!

Porter: Look, Mom, Santa filled our stocking with care!

Porter: Mom, there was a commercial for a Christmas Special and I want to watch it now.
Mom: Porter, I don't think it's on now and I don't think I'll find it on demand.
Porter: But Mom, I want to watch it!
Mom: I know Porter, but I don't think I can help you.
Porter: But Mom, I'm special.

Zoey: I like you, Mom.
Mom: Well, that's good, cuz I like you, too.
Zoey: Porter likes Dad.
Porter: That's right Zoey! I do like Dad! Except when he get really mad at me. Then he kind of freaks me out.

Porter: My brother said I can't eat broccoli.
Dad: You don't have a brother
Porter: Jesus is my brother and he told me I can't eat it because I'm allergic to broccoli.
For the record, Porter is not allergic to broccoli.

Porter: "When are we moving to St. George?"
Mom: "We are not moving to St. George. We are going on vacation."
Porter: "Oh."
Mom: "When you move, you go somewhere else and you never come back."
Porter: "We're never coming back?!!"

4-1-2009:
Right after swimming lessons
Porter: "On no! I have Grandpa Hands!"
Mom: "Don't worry. They will go away."
Porter: " I guess I can't do swimming lessons anymore, because I don't want Grandpa Hands again."

1-24-2009:
Porter: "What happens if you get a nasty president?"
Dad: "Where did you hear about a nasty president?"
Porter: "I went to the North Pole and a penguin told me that if you get a nasty president, then you die."
(And just for the record, we haven't said anything about President Obama being nasty.)
